Muhammad, A Romantic Husband (part 2)

Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h (peace and blessing be upon him) also fully understands the feelings of his wife, and knows how to please and give love. Prophet p.b.u.h often sleeps at the lap of her wife Siti 'Aisha r.a, even though she was on her period (menstruation).

From Urwah, he was asked by a person, “Can my wife (when she on her period) serves me and approach me while still junub*?”
Urwah said, “Everything is allowed for me, everyone can serve me, and it’s something irreproachable.” 'Aisha has told me that she had combed Prophet pbuh when she was haids (menstruation), even when the Prophet pbuh was i'tikaf** in the mosque, he brought his head to her ('Aisha) and she (' Aisha) was in her room, then she brushed him, even when she was haids."

Ummu Salamah said, "When I was sleeping with the Prophet Muhammad pbuh on a square of black cloth (in a narration: on the floor, I suddenly had my haids, then I went out and took my haids (menstuation) clothes, then he asked,' What happen to you? Did you have nifas***? “I replied, 'Yes.' He then called me, and then I slept with him in a low floor."

Ummu Salamah used to bathe with the Prophet pbuh from a same water vessel, and he likes to kiss her, even when he was fasting.

He also taught us to treat our wife with a special treatment. This was demonstrated when the Prophet pbuh did not hesitate to bath with remain bath water from his wife.

From Ibn Abbas, "That Prophet pbuh had a bath from Maimunah remaining bath water." (Hadith from Muslim).

The Prophet also known to pamper or spoiled his wives.
From Anas, he said: "Then we went to Medina (from Khaibar). I saw the Prophet pbuh provides a cushioned seat from the cloth behind him to Safia. Then he sat beside his camel as he straightened his knee and then Safia put her feet on Prophet knee so she can ride the camels. "(Hadith from Bukhari)

Sharing meal from one plate, jokes and kisses

The Prophet used to kissed his wife when he leave or came back to the house.
From 'Aisha r.a, that the Prophet used to kiss his wife after wudhu' (ablution before prayer), then he pray and he didn’t necessary to redo his wudhu. "(HR 'Abdurrazaq)

Messenger of Allah pbuh also like to eats and drinks from his wife used plate and cup without feeling uncomfortable or disgusted.

From 'Aisha RA, she said: "I used to eat his (a type of porridge) with the Prophet pbuh." (Hadith Narrated by Bukhari in Adabul Mufrod)

From 'Aisha RA, she said: "I used to drink from the same glass even when on menstruation, and the Prophet pbuh take the glass and put his mouth in same spot where I put my mouth, and then he drank." (HR Abdurrozaq and Said ibn Mansur, and Another history matching from the Muslim.)

The Prophet pbuh had a drink in Aisha’s used glass. He also had eaten meat that was bitten by 'Aisha. (Muslim, No. 300)

The Prophet used to kinda squeeze a little the nose of 'Aisha when she was angry and he said,' O 'Aisha, read the prayer: "O my Lord, the Lord of Muhammad, forgive my sins, remove them from the hardness of heart, and protect me from the slander that is misleading." (Hadith from Ibn Sunni)

He also joked together, at the time he was close to his wife.

Mentioned in a narration, 'Aisha and Saudah had their face smeared with food to each other. Prophet just laughed at them. (Reported by Nasa'i with a hasan isnad)

That is our Prophet. He is known to be gentle and loving to his wives. He also loved his wives and even gives them special treatment at a time when they were ill.

From 'Aisha, she said, he (the Prophet) was the most gentle and always accompany his wife who is complaining or ill. (Bukhari No. 4750, No. 2770 Reported by Muslim)

As a result, Islam teaches us a lot about the attitude of tenderness and affection for spouses. It is that kind of romance that Islam taught to all the husband towards their wife. Because Rasulullah pbuh said, the best of husbands, are those who can be kind to their wife.

From Abu Hurairah, he said: Messenger of Allah said: "The perfect believers are those who have the best behavior, and the best person among you is the best towards his wife." (HR.Tirmidzi, Ibn Hibban, hadith hasan)

*Junub is an Islamic term meaning "ritually impure due to sexual intercourse or semen discharge". A person in such a state needs to take a ghusl in order to become ritually pure and be able to perform his salah. A person (while Junub), cannot offer His/her daily salah (prayer)or enter a mosque.
**I'tikaf is A spiritual retreat in a mosque (masjed), usually performed during the last ten days of Ramadan. A person "making i'tikaf" will spend the evening and night in the mosque, devoting his or her time to worship and reading the Qur'an.
***Nifas literally means "childbed, childbirth, parturition." In the Islamic legal terminology, it means "the blood which is discharged from a woman's womb during or after the childbirth." The blood discharged during the travail is not regarded as nifas.

Islam By A Western Journalist

Muslims Are Good Folks

by Charley Reese
The Orlando Sentinel, Florida

I wish more Americans had an opportunity to get to know Muslims. Then they would not be susceptible to the silly anti-Muslim propaganda that is floated by some right-wing Christians.

Muslims are good folks. One fellow e-mailed me quite convinced that Muslims lop off the heads of every infidel they meet. I've been a guest in the homes of many Muslim friends, and the only thing they lopped off were extra servings of lamb.

People believe such nonsense because they are ignorant of the facts. The oldest Christian communities in the world are in Muslim countries. Some of the oldest Jewish communities in the world are in Muslim countries. The deputy foreign minister of Iraq is a Christian. There are Christians in practically all Muslim countries, and there have been for centuries. I've said all this before, but when lies blow strong, truth bears repeating.

Islam, like other religions, has different groups. Some are strict
in their observances, and they might be likened to the Christian Pilgrims who settled Massachusetts. But even the most strict – commonly called fundamentalists these days – know that a Muslim is commanded to treat Jews and Christians "as I would treat myself," in the words of a Hamas leader.

In my travels in Muslim countries, sometimes among the poorest of
the poor, I was never panhandled or attacked. As far as crime goes, you'll find cities like Beirut or Damascus or Amman or Ramallah much safer than most American cities.

Islam is not a religion with a hierarchy such as the Roman Catholic
Church. In that respect, Muslims are much like Southern Baptists, only more so. Any group of Muslims can build a mosque and hire themselves an imam, or teacher. They are independent. There is no Muslim pope or College of Cardinals. There are no bishops. When an imam somewhere issues a fatwa, which is a sort of formal opinion on a subject, it is not binding. Like Protestant Christians, Muslims interpret their holy writings themselves and consider themselves answerable directly to God – or, to use the Arabic word, Allah.

Most of the disputes in the Middle East are secular and political.
Hamas' quarrel with Israelis is not about the fact that they are Jews but about the fact that they occupy Palestine. The objections some Muslims have to Western culture are the same as those some Christians have. They don't like the violence, the immorality, the pornography and the greed. The conflict one sees between the religious and the secular in some Muslim countries is similar to the conflict in this country between religious and secular folks.

There are 9 million or 10 million American citizens who are Muslims. Muslims have been in this country since the late 17th century. If you don't already, you should make an effort to get to know Muslims. You'll find that they don't fit the stereotypes created by mean-spirited propaganda or superficial news coverage.

Racism is a monstrous injustice because it imposes a stereotype on
millions of innocent individuals. The only real solution is education and broad experience. It seems to me that God creates individuals one at a time, and it is the human mind that insists on grouping and classifying them. We should resist that temptation.

Muhammad, A Romantic Husband

From Abu Hurairah, he said: Messenger of Allah said: "The perfect believers are those who have the best behavior, and the best person among you is the best towards his wife." (HR.Tirmidzi, Ibn Hibban, hadith hasan)

Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h was the perfect human figure. On the battlefield he was a general who control tactics and battle strategies. In the community, he is a friend, teacher, and leader. At home, he is a head of household who can bring a sense of security, affection, as well as happiness.

Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h crowned by God as a role model on The Quran Surah: Al Ahzab

لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة لمن كان يرجو الله واليوم الآخر وذكر الله كثيرا

Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.‎ (33:21)
________________________________________________

The entire life of the Prophet is a good example for us, including the relation between husband and wife.

One of example on how romantic the Messenger was he kissed his wife before going out to pray. From 'Aisha r.a, "That The Prophet p.b.u.h kissed his wife then went out to pray without ablution first." (Ahmad).

Messenger of Allah p.b.u.h was a very gentle man. He expressed love to his wife with a simple and unpretentious manner. He is also known to be a very romantic husband.

For example, he used to call his wives, with their favorite and beautiful nicknames.

Siti 'Aisha, was called by saying "O Humaira" (O the red rose).

Just imagine, whose wife is not flattered when her husband called them with this calling? Ears who does not want to hear greetings like this?

But the beauty was not created because he was expert in flirting, but because his heart is clean, sincere, beautiful and comes from the bottom of his heart.

From his beautiful heart comes out words, behaviors, and a wonderful attitude. From which he was able to spread kindness and beauty from everything he sees and met.

Indeed, what a beautiful day to day life in the eyes of the prophet. Romanticism does not just apply to his wives, as well as children, even grandmothers and all the creatures of Allah feel it.

The attitude of the Prophet is also demonstrated when looking at nature and the elements around. When looking at the flower petals begin to open, his heart trembled, his heart rejoiced, and then he came to it, kissed it with his lips, and wipes it lovingly. Not to forget, he said: "Aaamu khairin barakatin wa inshallah." (In a good and full of grace, God willing).

Similarly, when he found a crescent moon in the early evening appearance, he did not forget to greet it with joy. Optimistically he said: "Hilaalu khairin baarakatin wa inshallah." (The beginning of a good and full of grace, God willing).

That’s Messenger of Allah, our example from God.

Even though as a leader he was super busy with the community, but he did not forget to establish intimacy with his wives. He even did not hesitate to shower together with his wife.
In a memoir, he bath together with Siti 'Aisha r.a in a bathroom with the same tub.

From 'Aisha r.a, she said, "I had a shower from jinabat with the Messenger of Allah with a same bowl of water, our hands are always turns to fetch water." (HR Mutafaqun' alaih).

In a narration of Ibn Hibban, he added, "And our hands touch".

Prophet teaches us, bathing with his wife is not a humiliating thing. If it is considered disgraceful, the Prophet p.b.u.h would not do it.

To be continued.. to part 2.

Non Muslim on Islamic Banking

Those who devour usury will not stand except as stand one whom the Evil one by his touch Hath driven to madness. That is because they say: "Trade is like usury," but Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for Allah (to judge); but those who repeat (The offence) are companions of the Fire: They will abide therein (for ever). (2:275)Al Baqarah)

________________________________________________

The systemic failure of the current banking model has generated much more official interest in Islamic finance. Shariah-compliant finance is based on financing secured against underlying tangible assets and involves risk-sharing between the parties in the pursuit of genuine commercial activities, rather than profiteering from paper instruments whose trail often led back to highly leveraged low-quality debt (better known now as toxic debt). There was a widespread view among those attending (including non-Muslims) that Islamic finance could provide one possible way out of the current malaise and become an important foundation in a new, more stable world economic order.

One official pointed out that it is not the labeling of products as “Islamic” that is the solution, as it is perfectly possible for a shariah-compliant bank to create sophisticated financial products that end up mirroring the conventional system. What is needed is ethical standards for the financial system based on transparent risk assessments and controlled debt levels. Whether such a model of greater fairness and integrity should be necessarily labelled with the exclusive term “Islamic” is a separate debate. Gordon Brown yesterday, in his speech to Congress, spoke in similar terms when he said that “markets should be free but never values-free, that the risks people take should never be separated from the responsibilities they meet”.

Non-Muslims now make up half of the OCBC Al-Amin Bank’s Islamic banking customers, says its chief executive.

ISLAMIC banking is gaining ground with non-Muslims worldwide due to its strict lending principles, Singapore’s third-largest lender OCBC said today, reflecting industry efforts to transcend religious beliefs to gain market share.

Syariah finance is a blend of Islamic economics and modern lending principles and its products can be sold to Muslims and non-Muslims.

While it was previously a small market catering to Muslims who wanted to avoid interest-based conventional banking, Islamic finance has become popular in recent years due to cash-rich Gulf Muslim investors and rising demand for ethical investing.

Non-Muslim investors have also been looking for less risky alternatives since the onset of the global credit crisis over a year ago cast doubt on many Western risk management practices.

But the Islamic finance sector is still relatively small and the industry wants to grow its market share to become a global alternative to conventional banking.

Many banks including OCBC have set up Islamic banking businesses to tap opportunities in the US$1 trillion industry. OCBC’s Malaysian unit launched its Islamic banking subsidiary, OCBC Al-Amin, last month.

“Islamic banking is getting a firmer foothold in the market right now and it has attracted not just Muslims but also non-Muslims not just in Malaysia but in the other parts of the world as well,” OCBC Al-Amin Bank chief executive Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik told reporters.

“(In) Islamic banking, there is a lot of other governance to be put in place to enhance the confidence and enhance the risk management through the syariah governance and framework.”

The UK now has five fully ‘sharia-compliant’ banks – providing products which prohibit interest payments and investment in alcohol or gambling firms in accordance with Islamic sharia law – while another 17 leading institutions including Barclays, RBS and Lloyds Banking Group have set up special branches or subsidiary firms for Muslim clients.

The $18billion (£12bn) in assets of Britain’s Islamic banks are said to dwarf those of Muslim states such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and Egypt. And there are also 55 colleges and professional institutions offering education in Islamic finance in Britain – more than anywhere else in the world.

God is the Most Just, so the guidance He gives to mankind must be just and fair also. Islamic system is for all humanity and not just the Muslim. In this case, is to achieve ideal society economically.
