Muhammad

And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid false deities." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were hose
upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers. (An-Nahl 16:36)

Who is Muhammad?

What must we know about him?

What is our obligation to him?
This page contains selected verses from the Quran that I hope at least can give us some explanation about prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and I hope it can be a trigger to us to learn more about him.

Who is Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)

Muhammad is no more than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude. (3:144)

Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful. (Al-‘Araaf 7:157)

There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer [of injuries or adversities]; [he is] concerned over you (i.e., to be rightly guided) and to the believers is kind and merciful. (At-Tawbah 9:128)

Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah , of all things, Knowing. (Al-Ahzaab 33:40)

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds. (Al-Anbiyaa’ 21:107)

O mankind! Verily, there has come to you the Messenger (Muhammad) with the truth from your Lord, so believe in him, it is better for you. But if you disbelieve, then certainly to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise. (An-Nisaa’ 4:170)

Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And we revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David We gave the book [of Psalms]. And [We sent] messengers about whom We have related [their stories] to you before and messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech. [We sent] messengers as bringers of good tidings and warners so that mankind will have no argument against Allah after the messengers. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. (An-Nisaa’ 4:163-165)

What is Our Obligation

So, if we truly love God, we should follow His Messenger. Because he (Muhammad p.b.u.h) is the one and only person in this world, whose Allah Himself justify as a true example on how to successfully implement Quran in the real life.

Say: "If ye do love Allah, Follow me (Muhammad): Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."‎ (3:31)

Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.‎ (33:21)

But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.‎ (4:65)

Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper."‎ ((7:157)

We sent not a messenger, but to be obeyed, in accordance with the will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come unto thee and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-returning, Most Merciful.‎ (4:64)
