Who can guarantee that our new friends at facebook have an
actual identity and information? From just a simple lie like name, marital
status, age or jobs until the extreme example like 60 years old dude who
pretend to be 16 years old teen girl. So, their complete existence is base on
lies. The dark side of facebook often we knew about it later either from local
news or our friend’s bad experiences, from things like divorce, child predator,
human trafficking, character assassination and maybe many other sick things we
don’t even want to know.
Often the addiction comes from appreciation and
gratification, the more comments on our status the more we become addicted to
it. Well, is not always a bad thing and sometimes even is a good thing. But it
is always bad if we have a fake identity or information, it means we find
appreciation from our fake identity as if we have double life (in reality and
virtual) and eventually we can become sick emotionally.
Real life example such as divorce case begins from a wife
who gets more appreciated on line than in real life. From a simple thing like
that, in time the wife prefers to live her second life (on line) than in real
life. The problem becomes greater because she did not do her obligation in
household and the husband didn’t aware and cannot handle this issue.
There’s a Hadist narrated from one of the companions of the
Prophet pbuh, Abu Hurairah ra: You will find from the most evil people in the
Day of Judgment in the eyes of Allah, the men who have two different faces
(munafiq). Those who have came to this group of people with this face and come
to other group with that (other) face.
In other places, the two face person (munafiq) will be
placed in the deepest fire of hell. Na’udzubillah, may Allah protect us from
that attitude, protect us from the evil things from facebook and other social
media. And on the contrary we can make benefit from it, especially we hope it
can make us a better person and better servant to our Lord. Aaaameeeennn.
